Both teams started the game very carefully. Despite being shorthanded at the beginning, Nove Zamky didn't let Kosice develop the game. When the penalized Pospisil returned on ice, they moved forward and by inconspicuous action scored. It was Hruska who shot through Kosaristan straight into the net. Right away, the Steelers had several chances to score. In 6th minute, Skokan passed the puck to Kristin, but the home team didn't use the chance where the goalie just kicked the puck in front of the goal-field. Klhufek also wasn't successful two minutes later. During defense play of Kosice, he broke away, but after being pressed he fell and fired a shot right next to the goal. The Steelers burnt another two chances, neither Vrabel nor Jokel succeeded when firing from close range. After several unsuccessful chances, home players tried it from the blue line — and finally could enjoy their first goal. After a serie of two passes, Repe moved right to the zone and by uncompromising fire changed the score to 1:1. This score stayed the same throughout the whole first period.

The second period was also more about fighting spirit. We could see some other good chances. At the end of 21st minute, Pospisil performed a good solo game. But the stick was far from his body, so he couldn't fire at Kosaristan's goal. In 23rd minute, Jakubek caught a puck, skated straight in front of the crease, but the goalie of Kosice caught the shot with the glove. In 28th minute, the score could have been changed. Skokan got an ideal pass right in front of the crease, where he tried to move Kristin. Puck headed straight at the goalie. And the fact that goalies were the most important players was confirmed a few seconds later. This time, Kristin had to jump so that the deflected shot would not finish in his net. The score changed for the third time in 39th minute. It happened during the power-play by two players in favor of Nove Zamky when Fabry fired a strong shot. And so, after 40 minutes, team of Kosice was leading 2:1.

But if the Steelers wanted to improve the result and think about gaining more points, they had to score. They tried to change the game, move forward and fire as much as possible. And they were succeeding. First ten minutes were played in the defense zone of our opponent. Kristin, however, was still focused and did not let the puck in his net. We could see the same thing going on a minute later, however, there was one difference. This time, Kosice scored, when Skokan fired a shot in 53rd minute, and changed the score to 2:2. And even though the Steelers had several good opportunities to score, they did not succeed before the siren turned on. This led to the overtime, during which the spectators could enjoy an attractive battle of three on three. During first five minutes of overtime, Pospisil scored and gained a second point for Nove Zamky.

Peter Draisaitl, coach of Kosice: "We have to come up with a better idea of how to play home matches. So far, it's all the same. If one formation does not score, there is a problem. The players need to understand, what it means to play at home in the Steel Arena."

Ladislav Branikovic, coach of Nove Zamky: "We were very well prepared for the match, even tough, it's true that Kosice played well since the beginning. They were using the whole rink and we didn't have many opportunities to combine. So, I think the result is favourable and we are satisfied with it."
