We are bringing to you the summary of the competition in terms of the Steelers

ADDED: 15.10.2019

The Tipsport league continued on Sunday by its 12th round. For the hockey players of HC Košice it was a special day, because they had a day off so they were able to relax a little bit. Therefore we have prepared a brief summary of significant events of the Steelers throughout the competition.

After eleven games the team of Peter Draisaitl is currently on the third place with 21 points. Overall the Steelers six times enjoyed gaining full points. In one game they added two points to the victory after shootouts, one time they lost in the extension. So far only three times they did not gain any points. However the supporters can enjoy the sequence of four winning games in the beginning of the season and the highest victory among all Tipsport league teams - 9:0 in Nitra.

The success rate of power games is currently 17.74%. Until now we had a chance to play the power play 62 times. In 11 cases, (of that twice penalty 5:3), they seized the opportunity and scored. They are also doing well when playing shorthanded. Considering the fact that we are the second team playing most often in the penalty kill mode with two-minute penalties (61 penalty kills, of which 9 were 5:3), the 86.89% success rate without goal is more than good. In power plays as well as in penalty kills the Steelers belong to better teams, they are in the first half of the chart.

Our hockey players are successful not only like a team but also like individuals. Noticeable is the first formation – Juraj Majdan, Michal Chovan, Marcel Haščák. The elite first forwards belong to the most dangerous ones in the league. This trio continues with their excellent shape ad it is obvious they understand each other well. Together they gained 38 points until now.

The “number one” between the three net poles became Andrej Košarišťan. The pre-season support and broader representation nominee after arrival from Nové Zámky confirms his qualities and expectations. Nine times he managed to get to the crease and seven times assisted his co-players. He even had to contribute to the team's piggy bank because he managed to achieve shut-out twice. With 94.40% success rate and 1.55 conceded goal he definitely deserves to be on the first place among the league goal-keepers.

When we check the individual statistics of the players we can see that the players are highly coordinated. On the very top we have Michal Chovan and Marcel Haščák. The first forwards of Košice are currently sharing the second place of the leaders of the league with the gain of 15 points. Michal Chovan, who was also awarded as the best player of the Tipsport league for the month of September, is also one of the three best set-ups of the league when he assisted his co-players 12 times. Marcel Haščák scored most often. He manged to score 11 times, which ranks him on the first place among the league players and he is starting to lead. The third most productive Steeler after eleven matches is Captain Dávid Skokan. Thanks to three goals and seven assistances he gained 10 points. Among the defense the most successful players are Patrik Koch, Tomáš Slovák, and Jurij Repe. All of them gained four Canadian points.

Next Peter Draisaitl's team will play in Liptovský Mikuláš on Friday, October 18, at 5:00 PM. Afterwards they will face the smash of the league in Bratislava on Sunday, October 20 at 6:00 PM. The next home match will be on Tuesday, October 22, at 5:30 when the boys will welcome the team of Nové Zámky.
