Košice entered the match better than the opponent, as their 1st goal chance came as soon as the first minute of the match. Hričina wanted to deflect Miklík's shot, but he missed the puck and therefore, Košarišťan demonstrated his experience by blocking the shot. On the other side, Sukeľ launched an interesting forward action by leaving the puck to his team-mate, but the opponent didn't manage to outsmart Habal, who took action just in time. During the next few minutes, Jenčík was passed an ideal puck exactly to the goal-field, where he found himself in a face-to-face duel against Košarišťan. The goalie was more successful again and so the score didn't change. Hovorka was in a goal chance before the end of the period, but he did not succeed and the ice rink was left with the score 0:0.

During the second period of the full regulation time, both teams performed a rather defensive game, so we had to wait for the first goal chance to the 27th minute. Koyš fought his way right to the goal-field, but his shot only hit Habal. On the other side, due to Nagy's activity, Košice got hold of the puck and Miklík took this opportunity to score. The Steelers finally led 1:0, but it didn't take too long. In the 39th minute, the puck bounced back from the plexi-glass right in front of Habal. Richard Rapáč used this opportunity and scored an equalizer to 1:1.

The introductory minutes of the final period belonged to the home Steelers, who pressed into the attacking zone and got into an interesting goal chance. Suja with the puck on his hockey stick skated around the net and tried to score, but Košarišťan handled the situation with Tabačka's help. This was followed by another action of Hričina, but as the puck rebounded, he couldn't place the puck to the net beneath the replacing Košarišťan.  Before the end of the 3rd period, Habal blocked the action of outnumbered players of Liptovský Mikuláš, so the equal score 1:1 was followed by the overtime.

Košice were at an advantage of a power play, but they did not turn this opportunity into a goal. Despite it, the home players decided about the victory, by the goal of Pacan in the 64th minute. The final score 2:1 brought us 2 points.

Marcel Šimurda, coach of Košice: "This was a rather demanding match for us, in which Liptovský Mikuláš profitted from its high-quality defense. Moreover, the opponent performs good counterattacks. We only had one aim in the overtime, and that was to gain the other point. Finally, it turned out well for us."

Pavel Paukovček, coach of Liptovský Mikuláš: "The guys were well prepared for today's match and they fulfilled our expectations. We had a good defense but unfortunately, we didn't make account of our little prevalence. Anyhow, a point from the match against Košice means a lot to us."
