The team from Košice was aggressive from the beginning of the match and first great chance came very early - in the second minute.   Nagy moved around the Tomek´s goal and then passed the puck to Pacan but he hit only the post of the goal.  Seven minutes later, Šoltés was has an excellent chance from between the circles, but Tomek saved with his shoulder. Finally, the goal was scored in the minute 13, when HC Košice players in outnumbering two to one were attacking the goal and Hovorka scored first goal by shot to the near post.  Hričina has another chance before the break, but he missed the goal from very good position.  Score after the first period was 1:0.

The home team continued in its aggressive style in the second period. Nagy scored to 2:0 in the minute 22 from very fancy pivoting.   Next goal was scored by Boltun during a power play and the next one during a short-hand play. Kafka was successful for the first time in the match.  Klimenta scored to 4:1 in the minute 31 to restore hope for the Žilina team, but Kafka was successful again in a very short period of time and scored his second goal in the match.  After the first period with only one goal scored, the spectators could see 5 goals in the second period.

The team from Košice has match under control during the third period and they didn´t allow for any dramatic situation. On the contrary, they have several great chances to score. Dudáš, Kafka and Spilar were not successful and Žilina scored its second goal. Handlovský decreased score to 5:2. Then score didn´t change till the end of the match, so home team from Košice won all 3 points.
