The match directly in Košice was enjoyed also by the general manager of the Slovak hockey representatives Miroslav Šatan and the representative coach of the A-team of Slovakia, Craig Ramsey.

The first period of the duel of two teams from Eastern Slovakia brought mutually agile hockey, which offered several good opportunities already in the beginning. Nagy tried, but did not overcome Corbeil and on the other side Hvila was not successful with his ending. Then during own defense play the home team outnumbered the opponent 2 against 1 and Jenčík took over the responsibility. But his well-intended shot hit only the body of the prepared goalman of Poprad. So the goals were seen only during the second half of the first period. All of it was started by Miklík. He turned well with the puck and did not give a chance to Corbeil and placed the puck to the corner of his net. Then Poprad was leading as a result of effort of Mlynarovič and Buc. But before the break the Czech player Ovčačík scored, which was his first goal on the home ice-rink. The players hit the locker rooms at 2:2.

The middle part of the regular play time was missing accurate hits as well as chances to score. It was because both defenses were doing a great job and were watching opponent's attacks. So for the first chance of the second period we were waiting almost three minutes, when Kafka protruded Šoltés, but he was not successful with his try. Then Mlynarovič, the marksman of the first goal of Poprad, had his chance again but Lundström remained calm and destroyed his two tries without any trouble. So during the second period the score in Košice remained unchanged.

The third period was opened better by the Steelers, who had an advantage of the power play. Suja found Spilar, who did not overcome Corbeil yet, but the puck came to Jenčík who sent the home team to lead. On the other side McDowell tried to score but the puck from his hockey stick found the rear barrier only. Then Košice was leading by two goals as a result of Suja's effort, who accurately tipped the shot of Kessel. Six minutes later Nagy took the puck from Buc and sent it to the net of Poprad. The total prevalence of the Steelers was confirmed by the second goal of Jenčík, who adjusted the score to final 6:2.

Marcel Šimurda, Coach of Košice: “The opening period was not ideal from our side, even though we were leading. It was important for us that in the middle part we loosened ourselves up and in the final part of the match we took advantage from our power plays but also defense plays.

Marcel Ozimák, Coach of Poprad: “The players deserve my appreciation for their performance in the first two periods. The third one was not as we wished. The match went not well for our elite formation. I have to admit that Košice deserve their today's victory.”
