Košice entered the match in a very good condition and took charge of the leadership right after its first shot. Šoltés took control over the puck by the blue line in the 46th second of the period and he left Tomek helpless by his shot. Just 40 seconds later, Košice could score once again, but Jurík devotedly rushed out for the puck together with it he pushed the net aside as well. In the next few minutes, Suja and Dudáš made a huge effort with the intention to increase their leading, but they weren't successful against Tomek. Neither Hovorka managed to increase the score to 2:0, when he found himself alone in the goal-field for a while, and therefore, Žilina got a chance as well. During a power play, Klimenta tried to strike, but he only hit Habal's chest. Košice lead 1:0 after first 20 minutes.

We could see great activity of both teams during the second period as well, as well as a match full of goal chances. Similarly as in the previous period, Košice were the 1st one to take their chance, especially during their power play. Šedivý was added to the list of strikers, by altering the score to 2:0. On the opposite site, Rogoň was determined to score, but his shot ended in the chest of the ready Habal. The score was raised to 3:0 one minute later, by a power play goal of Miklík. It seemed that the score will remain the same until the end of period, but another power play goal was stroke by Holovič, what meant the change to 3:1.

Žilina tried to return to the match by a quick goal from the power play, but the opening minutes of the final period didn't bring them any success. On the contrary, Košice could get back to three goal leading, but a good attempt of the team leader Nagy was covered by Tomek.  This was followed by 2 successive goals of Tvrdoň and Hruška, who altered the score to 3:3. Anyhow, this did not put Košice off. The oppposit is true. Spilar increased to 4:3 in favour of The Steelers, just a minute later Jenčík presented himself during a defense play. The last minute empty net goal of The Steelers yielded the final 6:3 score and thus, Košice overcame the opponent from Žilina for the fourth time during running season.

Marcel Šimurda, coach of Košice: "We entered the match excellently. Eventually, we took charge in the first minute of the match. During 3:0 score, we emphasized our players that the opponent has perfect power plays. Today we could see it as well. The most important thing is, that even after conceding three goals, we didn't give up and we lead our team to a victorious end."

Petr Rosol, coach of Žilina: "The beginning of the match was awful, but later we managed to balance the game. Unfortunately, our faults were followed by 2 goals of Košice what meant their second 2 goal leading in this matcg and we weren't able to cope with this situation anymore."
