The team from Košice was active since the first minute.  After outnumbering in the first minute Nagy was not successful with his backhand shot. Next, the players led by the coach Jančuška were successful during a power play.  Kafka has opened the score by passing a puck from the circle in front of the goal and pushing it behind the line through the Milam and Lawson.  By leading the game, the team from Košice was not risking and with their secured defensive they eliminated any attempts of the opponent. The spectators have to wait for the second goal till the half of the period, when Šoltés increased the score to 2:0. Korím tried to decrease this score by shot under the top post by Habal was ready.  HC Košice had another power play before break and they ended the period with comfortable lead.

The second period started with number of inaccuracies on both sides. Neither team was able to stay in the attacking zone for a longer time with resulting zero changes in the score until Versteeg´s tripping. During power play, the home team was attacking the opponent´s goal with several chances. Pacan even hit the post but without any change in the score. In the following minutes, HC were playing even two men short, but they were successful. Nitra was very close to the goal, but Blackwater hit only the right post of the Habal´s goal. Nitra was penalized for its unsuccessful power play when Hovorka has directed pass from Hričina to the goal during a power play at the end of the period to increase score to 3:0.

The final period was directed again by the home team. After 11 seconds, Hovorka received a pass from Suja and shot the goal.  In the minute 48, Nagy has increased the score to 5:0 from the right circle after pass from Dudáš from the blue line and frustration of the visiting team was on the top.  29 second later, Hričina shot the goal from almost the same place after outnumbering.  After six goals Nitra has changed its goalkeepers - Lawson was replaced with Marek Laco. After this physical support, the visiting team was able to shot an "honorary" goal when Macík was successful during a power play. However, 6:1 was not the end in the Steel Arena. The spectator could see 1 goal from each team, when Suha and Mezei succeeded and Košice won 7:2.

Milan Jančuška, Košice coach: "We are playing well these days and today match is a proof. Very good movement and combinations of the team. The team enjoyed the hockey, prevailed and score corresponds with whole picture. We appreciate three points."

Antonín Stavjaňa, Nitra coach: "We failed in this match, no compliments for the players. When we are weak in offensive we should be better in defense. But we made it very simple for Košice due to bad defense. It is a significant lesson for us."
