The match was very fast from the beginning, when a home team has its first chance after initial inaccuracies. Team from Dukla acquired a puck in the attacking zone but neither Hudec nor Pardavý was successful against Habal. The score has changed at the end of minute 12, when Košice team was successful in outnumbering two to one; Vrábeľ found Petráš and the latter player has no problem to shot a goal. In the minute 19, Suja received pass from Hovorka and increased score to 2:0 in almost identical action. Only 19 seconds before the end of the first period Radivojevič has used his experiences and decreased the score to 1:2 just before the break.
The beginning of the second period belonged to Košice team with a great chance in the minute 23. Kafka sent a pass to Suja but he was not successful in break away and failed to shot his second goal in the match. One minute later, Boltun was successful against Valenta, but post of the goal has saved Trenčín. The team from Košice continues in its attacks in the second period and captain Nagy has a great chance. He tried to overcome a falling goalkeeper Valenta but he failed. Five minutes before the end of the period Pača was shooting. But Habal was successful in very difficult situation. After second period without goals Košice team was still leading.
The Košice team was active also in the third period and it was very difficult for Trenčín to combine due to very close fore-checking. At the beginning of minute 43 Šoltés has a great chance between the circles, but Valenta was ready. In the minute 49 Radivojevič tied the score. Hovorka tried to response to this goal, but a defense of the home team was able to block his attempt. The score didn´t change in the third period, so overtime followed.
During this dramatic overtime, both teams have great chances in the format three against three. Radivojevič has a first one and he was close to the hat-trick, but Habal was against it. Spilar from the visiting team has also a good chance, but Valenta saved. Kafka after assistance of Šedivý was also unsuccessful. The goal was shot in the last minute of overtime, when defender Kessel from USA has decided by excellent shot.
Peter Oremus, Trenčín coach: "I thing that spectators saw an excellent match today. We appreciate one point but we have to avoid outnumbering in the future. Košice are very successful in these. Therefore, I feel bad about today loss."
Milan Jančuška, Košice coach: "We saw a very dynamic match on both sides full of fast chances. We were not able to utilize our chances in the first half of the match; the visiting team was unsuccessful several times in the second half. We appreciate two points we acquired today."
