Against Wolves from Žilina on Sunday

The Košice team was very successful after break for representation, as they won in both last-week matches.  First, they won 3 points from Liptovský Mikuláš with score 4:2 and on Sunday they pleased their fans as they won 3:1 with the East-Slovakian rival from Poprad. After difficult match with Banská Bystrica on Thursday they will play on the home ice with MsHK Žilina on Sunday, November 26. Initial face-off will take place at 4:30 PM.

During the representation break, the management of the team from Žilina has decided on changes in the forward line. After two foreign players have left – Jakub Babka and Scott Pitt  -  Radim Hruška and Roman Tomas became a new and old faces in the Žilina team. Both players are coming from the Czech National League team VHL Vsetín.  Radim Hruška was responsible for success of the Žilina team last year, but before he was a player in our team.  A 37-year old player Roman Tomas is currently on trial, but he was able to score 40 goals in the Žilina team in the Season 2013/2014. Next, he was playing in the supranational EBEL league in the colors of the Orli Znojmo team.

The Wolves from Žilina are currently on the 7th place of the Slovak National League and they lost all points in their last 3 matches. They won on November 3 for the last time, when they defeated Liptovský Mikuláš 3:1 in their home arena.   The forwarder Lukáš Handlovský is a productivity leader in the Žilina team. A 31-year old native from Banská Bystrica has 13 goals and 5 assistances from 22 league matches in the Tipsport League standing this year.  A Czech player Tomáš Klimenta  with 14 points (5+9) and Václav Stupka with 12 points (3+9) are next in order. A 27-year player from Canada -Félix-Antoine Poulin - is very successful among defenders with 7 goals, 4 assistances and 11 points in 22 matches. He is the second best shooter after Lukáš Handlovský. The goalkeeper Tomáš Tomek from Žilina team is a leader in the Žilina goal.    With his excellent performance he has great statistics regardless to the position of Žilina team in the standing. He is on the third place with 93.33% effectiveness of the saves.

Our team is in good mood this week, as HC Košice won all 6 points. Today, we have 47 points, which is 6 less than a leading team Dukla Trenčín. Banská Bystrica with 43 points is on the third place and Zvolen with 40 points on the fourth place. The players Petr Kafka  and Marek Hovorka are leading duo in the productivity.  The forwarder from Czech Republic has 11 goals and 9 assistances in 23 matches. His 5-year older center has 6 goals and 14 assistances in the statistics. Petr Kafka is on the first place as shooter and the captain Ladislav Nagy  with 9 goals is on the second place. The leader among defenders is Blake Kessel from USA with 12 points for 4 goals and 8 assistances. Vladislav Habal is a leader in the statistics of goalkeepers in Košice with 93.11% effectiveness of saves and average of 2.12 goals per match. However, currently injured Joakim Lundström has very similar statistics - 92.8% effectiveness of saves and average of 2.26 goals per match.

A match of HC Košice with bronze medalist from the last season is scheduled for Sunday, November 26 at 4:30 PM. Come to the Steel Arena to encourage our boys in the important match for 3 points.
