Also this year the Košice Hockey club did not forget about a great tradition when the players give presents to those who need them the most.

The hockey players of HC Košice today visited two institutions. The General School at Opatovská cesta in Košice, attended by handicapped children and the players also visited small patients in the Oncology ward in the Children's Hospital.

The children at school welcomed our hockey players with great applause and afterwards a busy discussion started. The players answered many interesting questions, the children were interested in hockey practices, players’ families and their hobbies. At the end of the visit the hockey players handed over lot of presents to their fans as well as a check for a thousand Euro to the school principal.

In the Oncology and Hematology ward the little patients were expecting their idols and you could see happiness on their faces. Košice hockey players spent tens of minutes with these “small warriors” to give them strength for the fight of their live.  These children also received presents and the management received another check for a thousand Euro, the result of fundraising of HC Košice players.

“Thank you for all presents and for your thoughts, that you do not forget about us” in unison replied the children in the hospital school.

“It is very hard to talk about these things. We are glad to be here; we want to be here. It is fantastic how doctors and other health care workers can help these children. We want them all to get well,” said the captain of the team Ladislav Nagy during the visit of the oncology patients.

“We would do anything for these children so they could go home healthy. Only in places like this you realize what is the real meaning of “health”. I am glad we contributed to some nice moments of these children”, said the defender Martin Dudáš.

You do not need a lot to make somebody happy even for a while. Visit, chat for a while, show respect or support. I am glad that today we were able to do it. We had some nice moments in the General school in Opátske and in the Children's oncology ward. I truly believe that we brought some smile and hope to both places. I honor and respect the parents, school staff, doctors, and nurses. I wish lot of strength to all children, so that every other day is always a little bit nicer than the previous one.” said the Executive Director of HC Košice Rastislav Rusič.

“We will continue with this great tradition also in the future. We would like to please everybody. I admire the children and their parents who fight this difficult and long fight. It is great to see that even though they have a long and difficult task to handle, they are full of optimism. We keep our fingers crossed for them, concluded the President of HC Košice Julius Lang.
